SAPORE DELLA VIGNA

I've never been to Italy and I wish to go there one day but for now Leichhardt will do :P Leichhardt is definitely the little Italy located in Sydney. Sapore Della Vigna is located in the Italian Forum (a small eatery and shopping complex). The Italian Forum has many Italian restaurants and a few other cuisines inside this space that looks like a town space transported from Italy. We arrived in Leichhardt at around 11:30- 12pm, it was quite difficult to find parking at first along the main street but there are a few spots just off the main street which you still need to pay for.

Surprisingly, most restaurants inside the Italian Forum were not open yet around the time we arrived. We chose Sapore Della Vigna because it was one of the first to open and we were hungry! They also had a lunch special menu which seemed decently priced, the two pizzas we ordered were from the lunch special menu. We decided to choose to sit outside because the weather was just too good and Sapore had a large outdoor seating area. We ended up ordering a meat lovers and supreme pizetta and a beef ragu pasta.

Meat Lovers Pizetta | Beef, chicken, salami, ham, sausage, BBQ sauce & mozzarella cheese | $13.90
The meat lovers pizetta had a generous amount of chicken and salami, basically there was very generous amount of MEAT! However, the standout of for both pizzas is the base because it was the dough was extremely soft and it had a nice crisp on the edges.

Supreme Pizetta | Salami, mushrooms, cabanossi, capsicum, eggplant, olives, onion, pineapple & cheese | $13.90
The supreme pizetta lacked flavouring and toppings, it may seems like a lot in the pictures but some pieces didn't even have ham on it. The pizza was just very flat in flavouring, it needed some seasoning to lift up the overall taste of the pizza.

Beef Ragu | Slowly braised beef in red wine and herbs, roma tomato, oregano and napolitana sauce | $23.90 (extra $2 for choice of pasta)
I really enjoyed the beef ragu, the beef was tender and melted in your mouth. You could really taste the red wine which lifted up the tomato flavouring. This dish was a little bit overpriced and you even had to pay extra for pasta, I would of presumed that the cost of pasta was already in the cost displayed on the menu.

Sapore was a very quiet and pleasant place to eat, we basically had the whole restaurant to ourselves! The waiter was very helpful and polite but it was a bit awkward when he was just standing close to our table almost the whole meal but we were able to get his attention very quickly. The lunch menu is definitely worth your money but the main menu seemed a little bit too overpriced. Overall, a very nice and relaxing meal.

Happy eating x
