Vapiano has definitely made a name for itself, with over 135 restaurants globally. In Australia, there are four restaurants to be found- Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Melbourne. One of the reasons Vapiano is taking off is because of its ever changing menus, variety in flavour and the chip card to charge your meals to- eat first, then pay! :) Vapiano delivers classic Italian dishes from fresh local Australian produce, trust me it is extremely fresh- none of that package stuff :P
I was given a great opportunity to try out Vapiano's new Spring menu and it is definitely a menu you want to try out! Each dish was packed full of flavour and fresh ingredients, it is also value for money. The new menu introduces us to the Pizza Porporano, Pasta Gamberi Con Rosso, Risotto Pollo Levanto, Classic Pumpkin Soup and White Choc Cheescake with Salted Caramel and Honeycomb. My friend and I, alongside other food bloggers and their friends, walked away that night rubbing our bellies and massive grin from ear to ear!

Classic pumpkin soup | Classic pumpkin soup- top with your choice of Parmesan, cream, croutons, and basil w/ freshly baked ciabatta | $6.90
Pizza Porporano | Homemade tomato sauce and mozzarella base topped with premium Aussie air- dried salted beef, rocket, shaved Parmesan, and a drizzle of Truffle olive oil | $19.90
The bresaola worked well in conjunction with the rocket and tomato pizza base, however the toppings were not evenly distributed so some pieces got only rocket and others had a lot of bresaola on it. The base of the pizza was thin yet fluffy and it had a crispy edge we gave a pleasant final crunch to the slice.

Past Gamberi Con Rosso | Choice of pasta served with prawns, chilli, semi sun- dried tomatoes, and sun- dried tomato pesto | $19.90

Risotto Pollo Levanto | Creamy risotto w/ chicken, bacon, red onion garlic, chilli, topped with Parmesan and basil | $19.90
White choc cheesecake with salted caramel and honeycomb | Creamy homemade white chocolate cheesecake topped with gooey salted caramel sauce and honeycomb pieces | $5.90
1. Using small pots- no taller than 8cm- fill with soil to the top.
2. Sow the basil seeds- no more than three or four in each pot- making sure they are only a few millimeters from the surface.
3. Add a thin covering of soil and water- to protect the seeds you can cover them with a clear plastic cover until stems start to sprout.
4. Keep the plant moist but not wet by lightly watering twice a day.
It should take less than two weeks for your plants to start sprouting. Within 5 weeks you can use your basil, and between 8 to 12 weeks is considered peak harvest.
